From 1 st January 2005 there will be a change to the way in which ICCs issued for powered craft will be endorsed.

Currently all ICCs are valid for either sail or powered craft up to 24m. However, from 2005 the powered craft category will be split in two: powered craft up to 10m and powered craft up to 24m.

All ICC currently in force will be renewed under the old scheme. It is only ICC's issued as a result of gaining the Level 2 powerboat qualification after 1st January 2005

So me with nothing, zilch, but experience, can drive anything. But if I go in for a course, I can only drive somethings /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

you are only limited to 10m if you get your ICC via a Power Boat course.
If you did a Day Skipper Practical on MF for instance i.e. a boat over 10m then you've got an ICC up to 24m

I think it's a very sensible move. Let's face it Level 2 is a very basic course and the fact that somebody who has just qualified to Level 2 could qualify to drive a power boat up to 24 metres is a bit OTT. It has also bee brought in as a lot of people saw it as a cheap entry to getting full ICC which is normally done over 3 days.

Re: hlb

Yes Haydn you can do a three day ICC course or better & cheaper still , you can do a One day ICC assessment given your confidence in your ability. If you demostrate such on the day the ICC is yours.

Make sure its on a boat exceeding 10m. Oh and make sure you practice with the plotter thingy on those map things first, cos your probably not familiar any more /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
