Imperial Wharf

There's not much to do around there. Too far from Chelsea for fun, and the local bar opposite the marine is a typical lager-y place - v expensive and no character. St Kat's is bouncy while you're waiting for the lock but okay once you're in. Staff at St Kat's not exactly helpful (but great at IW).

It's a lot (and I mean a LOT) better than the pool outside st kats, especially on the inside of the pontoons, but it is still bouncy.

You can get long moments of absolute calm which you'll never get outside st kats, but you will still get regular large and fast boat movements, so you do still get some fairly bouncy moments.

Personally, I wouldn't stay overnight as I wouldn't expect a great nights sleep, but many people of this parish have overnighted there.

We usually wait at imperial for the tide, then whizz around to st kats at the appropriate moment to minimise holding for the lock outside.

That said, even doing this we've had to hold station for over an hour at st kats while they buxxer about getting the lock ready, in the way that only st kats know how! ;)

Good morning people - this is SWMBO replying here. I am of the 'terrified' disposition when on the tideway and last year we did Imperial. It was so much better than hanging about outside St Kats. Yes it was a little bouncy but I find copious amounts of Pimms helps a great deal when moored up.

Luck of the draw! We use IW as a stopover for one night, to gain entrance to St Kats or whatever the next day.

It's bumpy until around 9pm, not too bad u less the Police Targas are busy.

Nice shops bankside, plenty of places to eat without hitting Chelsea itself.

There is no substitute for St. Kats, sorry! Just remember St Kats is a nicer entrance when the river traffic isn't bombing up and down...
