Yes probably OK for the amount of heat you will put in to the mast ali. Not good to really heat the mast as it may lose its heat treatment (temper). My mast has been tapered which involves cutting and welding. I believe they can do the welding and still keep the body of the mast extrusion cool. So ali retains hardness. So surely you can get the screws hot without really heating the mast. ol'will
