I think Alex Thomson proved fairly conclusively in the last Route du Rhum that it’s entirely possible to sleep through an alarm……..
You may have a point. Probably depending on what cycle of sleep and level of exhaustion .

I have twice set the wrong distance on my H/H Garmin anchor alarm and have woken up ok. I do have the thing about 2' away though. At least comforting to know that it's accurate.

You think this guy had alarms & slept through them? Any links?

Damien Seguin ? I have no reason to think that. My remark was in reference to alarms, and how Alex managed to crash into Guadeloupe last time when he slept through them.

All the fault of Alex, not the fault of the alarms though. The buck stops with the skipper.

What about the batteries you thought were lithium ion - was that a guess or any links to the power install on the boat? Would be very interesting if they were using lithium ion. seems unlikely though.
