Immersion heater replacement

Hi all,

Just replacing the immersion heater in my C Warm hotwater tank, the new element from C warm is nearly £100, but a similar 11" 3 kw BEAB approved heater with dual cutouts is £20 from the local plumbing shop. Has anyone replaced a C warm heater with a domesic one or can anyone think of a reason for buying the C warm element ?

Issues to look for are the thread size which for mine was different from the standard domestic and the power of the element. Most boat ones seem to be nearer 1kw and I imagine that a 3kw could lead to tripping issues with your electric supply depending on circumstances.

THe only difference is that marine elements are double insulated to prevent RCDs tripping.

as above check power rating and try ASAPSupplies too. From memory £100 sounds a lot

I replaced a failed element with a cheap domestic one, I could find no difference between the two, so maybe the original was an overpriced domestic.
