imagine this on UK roads at weekend

I like the ones that are so wide they have to be transported on their side on their trailers. I wonder how they launch those?

And in the second video, you thought it was a pain stripping and re greasing your trailer bearings after a launch?

We have a similar arrangement in the UK for the bat boats - a little bigger for our American cousins though! The trailers are hydraulic and the whole rig goes flat on arrival, the trick bit is all of the engine oil, the lubrication systems are all constructed in a way that the oil doesn't all end up in the bilge when the boat is tipped up on its side!

Any more questions?

Oh yes nowhere near 1 MPG!

For more of the same www.Offshoreonly.com and for smaller outboard stuff but just as crazy www.screamandfly.com

Forgot to mention - it's all fresh water so there's no problem dunking all those trailers - not sure I would want to put any of them near salt water!!!!!

Don't forget this is a lake! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx7ZB4F6SlQ

Im afraid santa will not deliver, you mentioned burning ants with magnifying glass, thought we needed sun for that :D

Love the amercican muscle theme going on here, how nice it must be to own even small SUV's and 20 odd foot boats and not worry about fuel:D

This was from the Class 1 powerboat racing in Plymouth a few years ago. Not quite as impressive as the Yanks.

Thanks for pics went to see the two day event, the very last time it was on, when one of them crashed boats all parked up at top of the light house.

That was local Plymouth racer Chris Parsonage that tipped it over on someone's wake! A lot of reasons for the Class One to stop coming here - mainly money!

Register for Offshoreonly.com and see some amazing stuff - Freeze frame is the go to place for videos - http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/freeze-frame-video-269/ and go here for some links to some incredible boat porn http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/general-boating-discussion/258163-eight-straight.html

It was property developer Chris Parsonage that brought Class 1 to the UK. When his backing reduced (property developing = financial trouble) the council decided not to continue funding.
Shame, it was great fun.

great have just signed up with offshore.
weeeeeeeeeeeeee big boat fix needed after the morning i have had, dam uk weather **** for mid july.
ahhaahahahahah

thanks for link major net browsing now:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sunday 28th August is I believe, the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes Powerboat race if you're not working? Hope's Nose or DaddyHole Plain are great spots to watch from land or Babbacombe Bay/Meadfoot good from on the water but keep inshore to avoid being in the way - they don't hang about! :D I might go out - weather permitting.

If you think those guys are crazy, with a 42 poker run edition, racing seats, intercom, lifevest, driver+throttleman, you should have seen the notorious HD video of a Schiada 21 at River Dave's Place.
That's the boating equivalent of Jeremy Clarkson testing the Ariel Atom.
Imagine a 21' boat with a HUGE supercharged block, a freeboard of 1 feet or so, no windshield, driven on pedal throttle at a speed comparable to that of the Fountain in the above video.
Oh, and in shorts & sunglasses, as safety equipment.
It's a shame that they removed it from their website, I guess they were probably breaking one federal law or three, even in the US...
Good thing that I downloaded a copy for my library! :D

totaly insane speed, brill vids,:eek::eek:

i think we should all ask for a dedicated topic page, dedicated to hi performance power boats. then we can fill it up with all the great vids you have posted.

Thanks all, just shows there is interest, when will this topic end, hopefully never:D

Speaking of insanity, you might appreciate also this.
Worth watching for the landscape alone, if it weren't for the shocking numbers...

2700hp would make a lot of boats go very quickly indeed!

28th of August is indeed the Cowes Torquay race - wave when you see us! We will be waving back but it may be hard to see as we're inside :-)

The boat will be red and white by then and have the "bustle" on the back - something like this:

It's not quite 2700hp - more like 280, but we were still going fast!
