I'm P***** off with Garmin ...

Thanks for all the responses - I've tried all the soft/full restart procedures and phoned Garmin and that was when they told me it is no longer supported ... They have offered 30% off a new satnav from their website which sounds a good deal.
I also bought the 'lifetime updates' some time ago BUT if you don't update over a period of 2yrs it assumes it is no longer functioning!! (found this out when I read the T&C's!) I'll try removing the battery next.

Update - I dismantled the satnav and disconnected the battery for a few minutes, reconnected and still not working.
Unlike the u tube video, you have to snap the bezel off and 4 screws need undoing - they are Torx no 5 size which of course I did not have, my set only went down to T6 but a small screwdriver sorted it.
I tried all the suggestions so I think it's for the bin.
I will probably take up Garmins offer.

To be fair, it's not only Garmin who force obsolescence on us. I'm typing this on an "ancient" computer running XP, which is now unsupported - but Microsoft refuse to sell me a replacement OS, so I would need a new computer as well!

Rob.
