I'm out of here. Bye.

Re: I\'m out of here. Bye.

Unfortunately your mistake (and I have made it many times) was to stray into the Lounge. I have felt for some time that this forum has no place amongst serious yachting folk.

Your disappearance from CBF will be a sad loss and of significant consequence to those, like me, relatively new to the world of MABs. Please consider this.

Bit like lifting a stone and finding slimy things slithering hither and thither beneath it. As my old mother used to say - "Touch pitch and ye shall be defiled". There are some truly nasty minds around this place.

But Mirelle, look a bit further round the internet and you will find some MUCH nastier minds - really evil ones. But look round the boaty bits of YBW and you will find some really quite nice people around.

Isnt life like that? I never bothered with the lounge for the very reason you are so upset. I went and 'lurked' for a little while, and soon decided that was a bit of YBW that I for one wouldnt waste time on.

Lifes too short as you rightly say, to miss out on any of the good bits. So I dont waste time on the bad bits. They wont go away, because thats the evil side of human nature.

Prejudice is a very nasty thing indeed, and racism is just part of it. In my job I work to support a group of people who perhaps suffer more entirely undeserved prejudice than any other group in our society. They are reviled, refused admission to public places like cinemas and theatres. If they do dare to go there they are stared at, sworn at, told to get out, even spat at. They often receive very second rate medical care (but by no means always!), they rarely have any real choice where to live, they only get 'special' jobs created for them - if they can get work at all. They often have no choice about where they will live, who they have to share their homes with, who will help to look after them. We have to work very hard sometimes to ensure even basic human rights.

So I know what nasty, slimy toads there are around under a lot of stones. And I know too that they will turn up in the most surprising of places. But I dont let that stop my enjoyment of those places, because the majority of people in them are ordinary decent folk, who will give a hand or advice when its needed.

And who is this group I work with? People with a learning difficulty - people who have the misfortune to have cerebral palsy, or Downs syndrome, or may have been labelled as 'Autistic' because their minds work a different way to yours or mine. In many places they are hated and feared simply and only because they are 'different'. Just as people who come from other parts of the world and other cultures are 'different'.

So dont go away - dont let the spoilers win by depriving you of something you (I hope!) enjoy. Most of us understand your anger just now, and sympathise. Anyway we would miss you and your insights!

Re: I\'m out of here. Bye.

Discounting an entire minority group (Like perhaps YBW formites)... because of the poor behaviour of a few individuals in a small corner of the group (like maybe the lounge)
Oh well.. <sigh>

Re: Bye then.

You have lost me there.

However, here's an idea! Why don't you announce that you are leaving and we shall see how many people implore you to stay.

Re: Bye then.

Like many, I will miss Mirelles posts and his breadth of knowledge. It doesn't stop me wondering about his extraordinary outburst of vitriol in the lounge and his subsequent decision to leave the forums

No doubt there are factors of which I have no knowledge at play here, but I can only see the evidence as presented and on that basis I agree with tcm that an apology is in order

Re: I\'m out of here. Bye.

Sorry to see you go - I hope you have second thoughts...

PS - racists aren't worth a load of energy, which is why I kept my comments really short.
I note that he did not reply to me - Qui tacet consentit !!!!!!!

Re: I\'m out of here. Bye.

Very sorry to see you leave. Judgeing people by their race/colour is as daft as judgeing the performance/reliability/technical inovation of a car by its colour. Unfortunately prejudice does still exist.

Re: I\'m out of here. Bye.

Actually, I dont know why we are posting here, coz he's gone and wont see them. Pity, but there it is. He can hardly come back now, after saying he's going on a matter of principle, he would be unprincipled to do that.

Re: Bye then.

You have a point!

There again, if, say, the person who most fervently wanted someone to stay regardless was an unpleasant loser who can't follow plain English - perhaps he's better off leaving, dyathink?

Hypothetical anyway. Some of us are *paid* to be here, so stomping off in a huff isn't an option.

Actually, stomping off in a huff isn't an option for anyone over the age of about six and/or those who actually go out to sea on a boat for any length of time, is it? No. I suppose the rest of us have to make up and apologise for any inappropriate behaviour and/or going off on one. Then things get better. Rather than worse, as now. See?

Re: Bye then.

Seem to remember myself being in a similar position once /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif or twice /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif sometimes the bullet has to be bitten and an apology ( where appropriate ) being offered . Personally I don't see that one is needed unless from both because of a misunderstanding

Re: Bye then.

Must be someone on here who is good mates with Mirelle, and can give him a phone call to say that lots of nice things have been said about him, just in case he has not quietly peered in to see what was happening........
And then he might return, and everything will be hunky dory again.
That would be nice.

oh please come back mirelle , grovel grovel

well, it's a nice idea ...

but the thread in question is fairly self-explanatory - mirelle just sees red and imediately uses abusive language. Is it okay to use abusive language on the forums if you know loads about old boats? I spect he mite apologise, eh? Except he also refers to "those who know me" so perhaps he's not the climby down type? I mean, he's had his boat for about a billion years so second thoughts isn't a strong suit?

heyho.

Re: Bye then.

maybe he will return under another guise - its always sad to see a grown man go off in a huff whatever the reason .........

life is too short, its not a practise its the real thing

oops - is that divisive for some believers /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
