I\'m converting to diesel anybody done this?

Well I'm not really but I've been wondering where Martyn Whiteley has got to and I thought the title of this post might get his attention

SEE IT - I LIVED IT :)

I was with MW at the Boat Show when the article came out and managed to bask in a little of his celebrity - I even got to meet his editor, Hugo. You could tell it was Hugo because he had a Broom keyfob. Speaking of which Clive why didn't you get them to buy your Broom rather than spend all that money on a new one?

Seriously though where is MW? Last I heard he was busy at work, I'll try the old fashioned telephone I think.

Phew, I thought for a minute, we would be losing one of our main Petrolheads!!

But I was wondering the same thing? The last he posted, he said he was very busy at work, that he didn't have time to log-on.

Busy and Boatless!

Feel like I'm here under false pretences now!

Since the forum couldn't come up with a new Electrical Contracts Manager for me, I've been having to work 40 hours a week for a change! But there is light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully a new guy starts in 3 weeks time.

But back to boats, oh dear, I've sold it! (only last week)

As some of you spotted, I had advertised the B27 just before christmas, when the offer of a cheap P33 came from a work friend moving to work in S Africa for a few years, and thought that if I could get a good quick price for the Bwood, the P33 was too good to miss.

Things looked even better when, as time dragged on without a buyer, and he offered me a deal whereby I just paid for it's upkeep whilst he was away, in exchange for free use!

So I kept my end of the bargain, and duly sold the B27 for a good price (perhaps due to it's 'celebrity status'!)

Then I get in touch with my 'Mate' in S Africa to find that, due to marital problems, he has decided he must sell the P33 and a loan deal out of the question! Added to that, a guy who'd put in a low offer a few months ago has come back and offered him more. Having had time to inspect the boat closely, I had already decided that I would not purchase the boat, largely due to many window leaks and the need for full upholstery refurbishment, and certainly not at a price to match his latest offer.

So now I find myself boatless, without the P33 on loan as I was hoping for.

As Clive has pointed out, I'm due out at SunCoast in June, so I may try and make that my boating for the rest of the year (unless I get a few offers from nice friendly forumites looking for (newly qualified!) crew (with own VHF handheld, GPS etc.!) and then buy for the 2005 season.

Somehow, the thought of contemplating what to buy next is as exciting as looking forward to actual boating at the moment, but I guess come the warm, sunny summer I'll be like a fish out-of-water.

Perhaps now I've 'come-out' (at being boatless) I'll have the courage to join in a bit more again!

Ps. thanks for your concern Martyn, must be time to compare notes over a few pints soon!

Re: Busy and Boatless!

Hi Martyn,
Great to hear from you again, We all thought you'd reverted back to petrol, and was hanging your head in shame/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. Too embarressed to talk.

Sorry to hear your sailing this year has gone 'Tits up', But you know where my boat is, And my spare keys are doing nowt. But it must be good looking at boats again.

Next time you are at Dart, Make sure you allow time for lunch again.

Cheers
Alistair.

BTW, I'm now using Diesel./forums/images/icons/shocked.gif/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
