Igoumenitsa/Preveza

Not in my experience.

This week: Flight form Newcastle to Corfu - £47 (inc luggage), Ferry to Igoumenitsa - about 12 Euros, bus to Preveza - about 12 Euros. Total Newcastle to Preveza under £70 - and no 6 hour bus journey from Athens.

Just depends on what is available and how hard you look, I guess.
Ah! a canny Geordie.

I'll give you that - bet you can't repeat the experiment again, though.

I can regularly do Mesolongi and back to the NW Midlands for £192 return (including 23kg of hold luggage). And no angst about "Is there a bus?"

I wonder what your return leg will come to?

Last year it ended up at about £90 via Corfu.

This year I don't even know where the return leg will start from - not to the nearest country even, so I will postpone worrying about that one for a while.

Of course, with travel operators dropping like flies (again) I may have to stay there. Oh dear, wouldn't that be awful? :)

The local agents regularly post up offers of spare seats on the charter flights ( thompson / monarch etc ) out of Preveza. Usually they are advertised at €100 so that works out at about £80.

You need to be flexible and not too worried about leaving on specific dates though.
