If your boat was in a shed for 3 months what jobs would you like to get done

Couldn’t find an affordable shed so we built an all over cover.

Mast down, under mast rot dug out and repaired + new supports fitted, mast step and shoe, - new standing rigging and re-wire lights; pulpit removed, straightened, powder coated and refitted, stem repaired, new bow roller assembly fitted. New chain plates for under sheet eyes. Complete interior repaint & varnish. All this since end of October.

And for our next trick - remove anode bolts and repair around old holes, then put new ones in; remove old engine, scrape bilge and repair / repaint; replace water inlet seacock, move exhaust outlet, new engine cradle, collect and fit new Beta engine; re-wire.

Then onto a couple of hull repairs, scrape keel to bare, paint topsides, af, paint deck, varnish cockpit; fit new main and stack pack + renew part of the running rigging.

I’m not sure that’s everything on the to-do by April list, but it will do for now.

Then go sailing!

Little Ship goes into a shed for the winter most years. For me working on my boat is part of the fun of owning one.

This year I have replaced the runners in the opening windows, moved the toilet over about 4" to accommodate ....... Ahem I digress. Painted the heads. Painted the rear bulkhead where the door is, painted the lazarette hatch and now it's varnish, anti foul and check the anodes. Service of the engine was completed before she was lifted.

This means that when others are struggling doing their maintenance, I'm already cruising.

Tom

Ps many know LittleShip is a woodie, so shed kept through the winter reduces the maintenance for me and allows a much better environment for me to "play"

Any preventative osmosis treatment seems like a good idea. Is it long enough to strip her back dry her out, Epoxy a number of times then add copper coat?

Make sure i know which deck fittings are leaking before she goes in...:D:D

Planing to take Aurora out for a major overhaul 2015 before castoff for the Med spring 2016.
If I did it now I,d lose my much sought after alongside berth.
List of jobs includes beefing up keel support ribs, rudder and prop overhaul, replace all rigging and get her back to a something approaching the original finish, inside, top and botom.

Varnish here too.

I would aim to do a really good job on the varnish and on smartening up decks, rather than the rush job between showers that I manage usually. However having a wee boat I would not be hanging about for three months, I would get her in the water as soon as the job was done to show her off. On getting the boat out the shed I would use it to lay the sails out and get a really good look at them, with a bit of spot cleaning and the odd repair if needed.
