Re: Books...

Maybe, for under the mast - but you definitely need a Hawkwind

Re: Books...

Thanks Mike, several old funnies in that link...I must find a copy of the book.

Actually the cartoon with the couple blaming a traffic accident for their boat sinking, isn't among those in your link.

I believe it was in the June 1972 Punch magazine, "Sport for the hell of it", but I can't find the cartoon online. I've spent a good hour looking!

I only have a small collection of copies of Punch, and probably not back that far! But the cartoon you refer to is indeed in the book, on page 88, should you track down a copy...

Mike.

'Sailing to the Reefs' Bernard Mottessier.Should be called Sailing on to the Reefs. One of the few funny sailing books, especially when he is in South Africa and is living off dog biscuits and cormarants shot with a catapult.

Re: Books...

The opening post of this thread is the perfect example of why Mark SolentClown’s passing is such a loss to this forum. Just a lovely piece of writing and, as always, a world away from the haughtiness and rancour often present in ‘this place’.
