If ther is one thing you would change at LIBS...

Unfortunately the NEC has a similar atmosphere to Excel so that wouldn't solve the problem.

Additionally the NEC has proved unsuccessful for the Marine Industry ever since the Birmingham Caravan & Boat Show started many years ago.

Forget the NEC.

Went on Thursday most exhibitors said that this was the busiest day so far but not brilliant. Also, several said they would not clear the exorbitant cost of the stands let alone make a profit. For me the aisles were easy to walk along - but there were very few chandlers apart from four different versions of Mailspeed! It was all holidays, charter, clothing and jewelry.

The worst bit was the advertised Park & Ride in Aspen Way - it wasn't there!!!!!! After asking at the other carparks in that area had to give up and go to Excel car park.

Definately, will not go again its Southampton only for me from now on.

What an extraordinary race the Brits are! You say you went to the Boat Show, got all the info you wanted, and still you complain! Other forumites have come out with the same complaint about Excel....it was too good at what it was supposed to be doing. Earls Court was(is?) an awful venue. Crowded, hot like hell, bad toilets, really awful food stalls. No, thanks, you can keep it. I also went to LBS this year, found all the info I wanted, and came home a happy chappy. I will go again next year. But I agree totally about the posers on their mobiles, but I expect they were at Earls Court too, only there wouldn't be any way to avoid them there.

Agree about the lack of smaller stalls....they gave it so much of it's character (have just come home from the show). Living in London and working at Canary Wharf access is not a problem, but I think that the comment about it being a boat exhibition rather than a show quite neatly sums it up. I think it will become too costly to show and more and more of the smaller companies will stay away. Perhaps the real problem is that the face of sailing is changing and we like it the way it was????

Less charter / tourism stalls, more boat bits!

As a rule I always try to get my entrance money and car parking back by negotiaitng deals. Last year everyone feined shock when asked, this year they were falling over themselves to deal.

Is very similer every year though, not sure I'll bother going next year.

Move the boat show back to earls court.
now days the boat show seems to be run as a trade exibition that they let the public into.
Get people on the stands who actualy know about what there displaying.
Inject all sales people with a dose of personality and extract the 'i sell boats therefore im allowed to be pompus and better than you' attitude from them!!
sos i know its a bit harsh that one
and my last rant SEATING
