Hi

I've just bought a small 19ft sail boat but the previous owner has no idea what type it is.

Is there anywhere online where I can easily search through boat hull designs to see if I can find a match?

thanks

I hope you enjoy your new boat.

Post a picture on here. Several people will identify her - some will be right! One will tell you that he used to have one like that - it was the best boat he ever had, and 5 others will tell you that you'd have done much better to buy a ..... [fill in the type of boat they sail]. Don't mind them, though!

Not that I'm aware of,best bet would be to take a few pics and post them on here and pound to a penny someone will have had one or know the designer or the yard it was built in.

To post pics click on "ships woofy" in my tag line for a guide.

Also a picture, or at least a description, of the sail emblem. Try to give us several pitures from different angles of the boat taken from above as one would see it if viewed afloat.

I have a few pictures, none of them show sails up, just sitting on it's moorings but it's a start. I'll pop them online in the morning.

Well what is it then? where are the pix? do you know what it is now? I will wonder forever if you don't tell us now or show us the picture /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

here she is... please excuse the state of her, obviously that's down to the previous owner and will soon be rectified by me (hopefully)

/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I was sure I'd be the first to identify, but I havn't a clue /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hi there - another newby here.

Your boat looks like an Arran 18 - I had one as a driveway ornament a few years back.

Hope this helps

and the prize goes to....

Muzza!

thanks mate, now at last I can stop referring to it as that old tub. Brilliant, you've made my day! There's some really nice versions out there too (according to Google images) so hopefully I can get her ship shape and looking just as good!

now all I need to do is find more information on them... and it appears Google is empty. Plenty on 18 hole golf courses in Scotland but not an Arran 18 in sight (apart from the 2 shown above from boatsandoutboards
