Hi folks

I've been meaning to post these for a while, neither of these have moved for several years and I'm curious to know what they are. When I first saw the first boat, I thought she was a Nicholson 32, but checking on the net I realise that whilst similar, she isn't one of those. The second boat has "COCCO 65" on a transfer on the side, but I haven't been able to find out anything on the net.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

...and indeed she also looks like a Great Dane 28. I now have a good excuse to go back and take some more detailed photos. Thanks!

Lakesailor, thanks, that one on Nettivene wasn't there when I first googled 'cocco 65' earlier in the year. The fact that that boat is also in Finland makes me suspect now that it may be a Finnish design ;-)

Zetorpilot,

On second thoughts I'm not convinced she is a Great Dane, needs a few more camera angles to decide...

If she is anything to do with Vertue's, she'll be worth a fortune !!!

I'm sure they have a strong class association.

Hmm... well GD's windows do seem to be slimmer, especially the foremost one, and there is a curve to the front of the coachroof of the yacht I photographed that GD doesn't seem to have. Maybe these could be design details that have changed over time though?

Wow, that was quick, thanks! I've done some quick googlage and it looks like you're right. I wonder if I can track down the owner. There is a window missing on the other side, and I would imagine that rain has got in. It's a shame to see such a lovely boat neglected.

I'm not completely convinced though - the deck level doesn't look right. The lines of the boat should be a bit curvey but it is difficult to make out from the angle of the shot, and the lean that she has.

I'll try and get back there early next week and take some more pictures. I won't get the chance tomorrow, hopefully we'll be going sailing :)

I'm baffled re the first one - she definitely isn't a Vertue II (Laurent Giles bows are very distinctive).
And she definitely isn't a Great Dane 28 or a Bianca 27 (which looks very similar to the GD 28).
There is a hint of American Bristol or Pearson about her, perhaps with a bit of Alberg thrown in, but again, the cabin and the bow are different to any of the ones I could find on Yachtworld.
Probably European?

+1 Definitely not a GD, nor a Bianca 27...

Top one looks like a Hereshoff 28. Depending on the builder the doghouse varies and many are sloop rigged and have lost their bowsprit.

First one is a "GT-Kryssare". It's a Finnish design, basically a bare hull/deck for self completion designed and produced during the 1970's. The intent was to provide something close to a Folkboat but in GRP with a taller cabin. Generally mast-head rig rather than the fractional rig of an FB.

How do I know? 'Cos I've got one. Also there's a give-away on the bow... :)

Just realised, the OP is also in Finland so these boats are probably also in Finland. Should have guessed from the cradles and mast storage methods...

There's a clue to the Scandinavian origins - the cockpit coaming generally curves upwards to the cabin top or close to it, as do both of these.

Ahh, it looks like Steve L has it... Thank you Steve!

I went back today to take some more photos, it looks like these are redundant now but I'll post them anyway:

And thanks again to Steve and everyone who has taken the trouble to help. I have now found plenty on the net about these boats, but it helps that I can read Finnish :)

So... does the team think I should make enquiries? ;) one never knows, maybe the owner "just wants it taken away"? :o

:) Was looking some info on the net about GT Kryssares and just happened to see this site. And I just have to post some pictures. The thing is. Owner just wanted it taken away :)
