Hi,

I bought a boat which didnt include a depth instrument in its inventory, however there is a transducer bonded to the hull (i dont think it is going through the hull) but no display unit. The previous owner said it was there when he bought the boat and never managed to work out what would be needed to make it work.

I thought I would have a go, but there seems to be absolutely no numbers or logos visible on the transducer or cable.

Based on these 2 pictures can anyone identify the manufacturer or unit?

Looks like an old Seafarer one to me, but your probably better off getting a whole new kit than trying to match a head to that transducer.

At sea somewhere.

Quick personal rant. Why leave the old one where it is? Why not remove it and dispose...? Every boat we have ever owned I have spent time removing rabbit runs of old wiring, old transducers etc etc. In the dark when you are trying to sort some problem out at sea, why have redundant bits of kit and wires on your boat to confuse you?

Ahhhhh!!...

...you've got the one that looks like an old porcelain doorknob with a rubber doorstop glued on top all pushed into a dollop of mashed potato with a surprisingly modern moulded phono plug on a length of RG 58!

Sorry, havn't a clue.
