ICOM M31 Handheld vhf- charge from 12v

I have ICOM M31 handheld which needs 12v supply to charge it. Can I plug straight into my 12v supply as I have a plug that fits or is there some electronics in the pukka 12v ICOM lead that limits the current? Clearly I need to get the polarity right!

My Icom ((I think) I (something) Euro)) uses an Icom charge adapter AD-95. I just plug that into the 12v supply as and when.

I Have an Icom M71 and I simply made my own cable to connect the docking base (the desktop charger) to the ships battery. It has been perfectly ok for more then a year now. Just take the dektop charger to an electronics store to find the correct plug that goes in the charger.
