Icom base charger not working after re-wiring incorrectly

The power cable to my Icom charger base has a black wire and a black/white wire, I think I incorrectly guessed which was the positive and which was the negative. I have swapped them so they are now correct, and if I put a meter over the 2 pins I get approx 1.5v.

But the orange light is always on, not just when the radio is in the base, and the radio does not charge.

Is it irreparable or can I fix it, I have looked and a replacement is hard to find in the UK.

You've probably broken it! New ones are easily found, about £50, eg Cactus.

I put one in the for sale section a while back, not sure if it'll fit your model, take a look.

I made the same mistake a few year back, I found the wire colour very confusing.

I could see how I could repair it, and bought a new one.
