I thought I\'d seen it all
Down at the marina at the weekend I noticed a guy this guy on the eastern breakwater bringing his rope for a walk, then for a swim and then for a break.
Let me explain.
I don't know what made me notice him, maybe it was his bright red Helly Hansens but he appeared along the breakwater in his tender.
He tied her off to one of the cleats and struggled to climb out. He then picked up a long rope out of the tender and laid it out along the breakwater.
He then tied one end of the long rope onto oner of the cleats and the other onto the tender.
Off he went in the tender to his yacht in the moorings - that's right - the rope is still tied to the breakwater. Jayzus, what's he up to -maybe he's afraid that the tide will carry him or something but I couldn't figure it out.
Anyway, he reaches his yacht and tied up the tender and went down below.
He is now in the lovely position of having a rope stretched all the way from his yacht - across the fairway - to the breakwater. Maybe he has a dislike for jetskis
Anyway, I am getting very concerned because there is a guy out on a jetski and the rope is stretched across the route to the fuel berth so an accident waiting to happen.
I was just about to call the marina office when around the breakwater comes a yacht heading straight for the rope.
I ran up onto the flybridge and waved with both arms to warn him but he didn't see me. He hit the rope and thankfully no damage was done.
Our hero stuck his head up and the lads on the yacht "had a word". I'm not sure he fully understood his actions.
After the yacht left the scene, our man popped back over to the breakwater and laid out the rope again, this time inspecting it for the inevitable break.
He coiled the rope up and buggered off with one puzzeled look on his face.
