That’s confusing alright. I saw a small 17-19ft cabin cruiser last summer that had gone through a big refit. Fresh outboard, newly painted, new seats, etc, etc. But the nav lights were on the wrong side. The owner was obviously very proud of his refurbished boat as he had the incorrectly fitted nav lights turned on during the day.
 
At night two boats attached at the stern that have opened up into a V formation sufficiently wide enough for you to see the red on one and the green on the other .

Is there any enforcement agency about to make him sort it out correctly? Just curious.

A few years ago we saw a beautifully restored wooden motor cruiser at Chatham. Lovely varnished woodwork and polished brass, but with the nice shiny navigation lights on the wrong side. ?
