Moving on from Rivonia's post regarding i-players, how does one convert a movie file to a format that can be loaded to an i-player?

There seems to be some expert opinion on these fora regarding these machines, so over to you -

TIA

It would depend what file types you are working with, but if you google something like "convert dvd to ipod" you'll get lots of info...

http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html you need Free Video Converter V2.5 - converts between most formats and is free. Just remember to untick the 'install yahoo toolbar' during the install.

I would recomend - http://www.idealdvdcopy.com/dvd-to-ipod.htm
There is a small cost, but it works faultlessly on every DVD I have thrown at it and converting a whole DVD takes about 30 minutes, its a 1 click process.
I bought SWMBO an iplayer for Christmas and we are steadily working our way through converting our whole DVD collection
