I need to buy a new water heater for my boat. The international brands such as Quick and Vetus available here in Turkey are quite expensive. My current heater is 22L so I guess I want something in the 20 - 25L range. I'm going to Ireland in a few weeks and I'm thinking about buying one and bringing it back with me. I haven't located any suppliers in Ireland so if anyone knows any bargains available in the UK from suppliers who will deliver to Northern Ireland or Dublin without charging a fortune for delivery I'd be grateful. Any recommendations on good value for money brands or "don't touch" brands would also be welcome.
Looking on the net I see Force 4 have a 25L Quick Nautic for £360 [what's the difference between B3 and Bx] and Norfolk Marine have a Surecal 22L for £320.

I bought a 22l Surecal (from Norfolk Marine, IIRC) and have been very pleased.

The Surecal range is good; I fitted one to my old HR352. Norfolk Marine has perhaps the keenest prices.

Yes, I've checked and I did get my Surecal from Norfolk Marine, and their prices were the keenest at that time, too.

The material of the outer cladding. One is a composite material, the other is stainless steel.

Another vote for the Surecal, I bought mine directly from the makers on the IoW, if you are considering one of those shiny Isotemps I can give you several good reasons why you shouldn't.

Thanks for all the information. Does single coil and twin coil refer to the electric element or the engine heat exchanger? Has anyone dealt with www.heatso.com. They are a good bit cheaper than Norfolk and accept amazonpay?

Twin coils allows you to connect to two heating sources, such as both of your engines. With a 22l tank one of your engines would heat that quickly.

Order placed with Norfolk Marine for single coil 22L. Free delivery to Northern Ireland. Thanks again to all who offered information and advice.

I just got a call from Norfolk Marine telling me there would be a substantial carriage charge to send the heater to Northern Ireland. I told the chap it says free delivery on the website. He said that applies to mainland U.K. only and offered to send me their T&C’s. I told him I have a screenshot of the front page of the website which says all UK. He abruptly told me my order would be sent and rudely hung up on me. I had previously checked another UK website and the carriage was less than a tenner. Silly to be hassling a customer when it’s their mistake but I don’t care as long as I get the heater.

Norfolk Marine have now sent me an e mail cancelling my order because I refused to accept additional delivery charges. I didn’t actually refuse and they never told me on the phone how much it would be. I merely pointed out that the front page of the website says free and it brought up delivery charge £0 when I entered the address and postcode. I replied to them but I think I may well be starting another thread looking for advice about how to pursue a consumer complaint in the U.K.

That's very shoddy service! I'd be tempted to phone (not email) Surejust on 01983 400464 and tell them how disappointed you are with their dealer, and see whether they can suggest something to make you happy. When I bought my Surecal calorifier, I actually got it direct from Surejust as I wanted some different fittings on it - they were very helpful, matched the lowest online price, and didn't charge for the different fittings.

Thank you. Sounds like excellent customer service from Surejust. I’ll hold off for today in view of the other positive comments about Norfolk Marine on here - it may just be an individual employee being an ass. However if they persist I’ll be doing what I can to expose their unprofessional behaviour.
