I just found out I am old fashioned!!

Re: Not that old fashioned - question

Well steve apparantly you will also be able to pick up the broadcast in Pegasus!!!

Thats of course if I had one of those cadgets, which of course I do not really have anymore. :-)

hah, i\'m loads more old fashioned than gludy

ok, 3 minutes per cd.

But then it's another 3 minutes for the second one plus a minute of pratting about. So, assuming that all your cd's (, like plenty of mineinclude the words "great" and "golden" and "twenty" that means 15,000 tracks will take erm er 15000/20 x 3minutes at least = er well, ages and ages working like a skivvy assuming nothing goes wrong, which it will, and all the time bearing in mind that you already have the music and it'll be even worse quailty on MP3 even than so-so cd music which is actually much worse than vinyl unless it's rock music where you can make it up in your head anyway.

And be honest, loads of pop/modern music is a bit trashy anyway: think about it - at a rock concert they try and emulate the recording, the album, don't they? Whereas a recording of classical music is an attempt to re-create the live performance.

Also loads of modern stuff is nicked from classical music anyway. So, i recommend you listen to some nice Mozart, and not the other stuff. And definitely not on MP3 with jumping around all the tracks in random sequence which is always a bit weird.

Also, if you DO like modern music (and actually, i do quite a bit, despite the partial slagging above) then in south of france we have Riviera Radio Nights which is wall to wall modern decent music with no adverts and no need for mp3 or even a CD.

This only a partial rant, incidentally, not a full version.

As a matter of interest, because I want two!! Plus you may know. Can you get waterproof speakers in wee boxes? preferably black or brown. I dont want build in ones, as I would have to cut effin big holes in my solid teak wheelhouse! The only other option, is to get build in ones and make wood boxes for em!

Thank's for that Brendan, found some on audio-marine.com, 3" white in boxes, the right size, seems like I will have to live with white or paint them! They are for the aft deck. Never seem to have music out there and miss it! There are other ones, some black, but a wee bit too big.

Most of the boats around me are empty, not many liveaboards on my pontoon.

But when out at sea and sailing from aft position, it's nice to have a bit of music! Also when having a bit a a bash anchored somewhhere private, thats OK as well.

Enough noise around me to drown out most music anyway. Have you been to Port Vell?
