I was suggesting that OP would always find fault . I could possibly be called a Portuguesophile--- now THERE'S a word to conjure with!!

You are likely to have an illiterate baying mob after you....Happened in the UK a few years ago. Perhaps if you used the 'phite rather than the 'phile , they might leave you alone

Many happy memories of Vilamoura, but that was a while back. One has to remember that Portugal has a different history of sailing/verses motor. Make a bit of money, buy a mobo and show it around. Sailing a very minority sport and up market. Bit like the Spanish Yacht clubs, where social class was all and people in sailing gear were not welcomed in the bar.

Had a conversation with the owner of Nicorette, who was promoting dinghy sailing at the time. Was very pleased that the champion of one of the smaller classes (320?) was from an average lower middle class family. (didn't know who he was, we were waiting for our bags at Faro AP, penny dropped when he invited me to have a look at his boat..)

Thank you Ludd.
Bit that made it worse, was that the unfortunate pediatrician had his trade on a brass plack outside his door. Never occured to the mob that real paédophiles don't exactly advertise in the same way.

Hope no-one thinks I was defending Vilamoura, but Nooka should realise it's HIS countrymen who have made it what it is, hen and stag night participants behaving disgustingly.

Got stuck for 8 days in Almerimar waiting for winds to die down prior to going round Cabo Geta.
Infinitely preferred it to my 5 days in Vilamoura.
Horses for courses ....

Agree, spent a winter in Almerimar loved it. Yes it's a concrete jungle to look at but it's got a heart, had a good liveaboard and settled community, also some good restaurants and bars. Supermarket right on hand and a couple of chandlers plus easy to get work done on the boat.
I do think it is a place you need to spend more than a couple of days in to appreciate it though,

Hi Nooka,

When do you plan to haul in Sopromar? If your plan is to initially go into the marina, I am sure we can organise a reception party so you can meet up with some of the longer term berth-holders. ?

Of course, all in the best possible taste!?

Don’t much like threats nortada.

>Have you been there ?Because some how I don't think you have to make such a comment .

Yes I have been there twice and to me it was an uninhabited concrete jungle. The flats had been built just before the recession arrived and they were all empty, it's an eye sore.
