My Rinker has come with a disconnected LPG system which the previous owner disconnected when the gas people pulled out of Brighton Marina and Sovereign Harbour rendering the system about as useful as a chocolate teapot. My task for the coming weekend was to remove the remains of the system to make way for a calorifier and somewhere to keep my tools etc. While musing over my wheaty bangs this morning I had a thought. We are possibly bringing her to the Solent in a couple of months and if I could get LPG down there it might be worth keeping and restoring the system. The only bit missing is the thing that sits on the carb and its pipes which the previous owner may still have. Obviously I would get an authorised engineer to check it out once done. The questions I would like to ask the panel are
Can you get LPG anywhere in the Solent?
Does anyone know the cost per gallon these days?
Does anyone know of any safety devices apart from a gas sniffer alarm that would need to be fitted to pass installation regulations?
Would they consider it worth doing? The tank is 10 years old as is all the associate pipework and electrics. The engine is a 5.7 ltr Mercruiser V8 210hp.
