.. an elderly friend has asked me to help him at the bank holiday weekend to help him sail his boat .. but .. I did this last year and was assaulted by cauliflowers, had to make massive leaps of faith, was out in a forecast F11 watching waterfalls blow upwards .. and my wife is concerned for my safety .. mental, emotional and physical.

Now what should I do?
1) Risk all and just leap aboard
2) Charter another fine craft with SWMBO and keep an eye on the goat from a safe distance
3) Book a holiday in Thailand
4) Join the Labour party

Your thought would be appreciated.

being a yachtmaster wont you just sleep thro' it all?? Anyway I may be in the vicinity... humour me with your antics and I might consider putting in a Pan Pan Lunatico call on your behalf!

Does your elderly friend have funny personal habits? Where did the cauliflowers come from?

Do you suppose because he is nearer his God than you that he has less concern about the weather?

Well the elderly auld yin does have some strange habits. The cauliflower came from the bilge next to the mushroom cellar, just aft of the strangely empty fish hold. He's taken to wearing a flat cap and talks about firemen in a vacant tortured fashion.

Is this the same "lderly friend" that's caused you anguish in the past, or are you blessed with several of them? Whatever, it seems to me, he/they are becoming a pain in the derriere - remember, "a friend in need is...........an effing nuiscence" Ditch 'em and have more tranquility in your life!!
