Launched my Avon rib with its Yamaha 15 2s, both having sat on the flybridgefor the past 6 months open to the elements with no cover. Primed the fuel line and first pull it sprang into life, what a great small outboard. Has never let me down even though it gets ignored year in year out. I've had many different makes of outboard over the last 30 years, nothing beats Yamaha for reliability.

Had a Yamaha 8hp 2 stroke for 25 years with classic zodiac, just superb... sold it and had suzuki 6hp 4s for 5yrs again, very good. Then bought a brand new 6hp Yamaha, old loyalty... had it 2 yrs so far... I'm still unconvinced, although good starter, but lack of use and not flushing with fresh water lead to blocked cooling water intake, £240 service cost to date, (2 services done to keep up 5 yr warranty)... kind of going off it a tad, probably run for less than 4 hrs to date.... however my 2stroke merc 3.3hp..great bit of kit.. 2 Outboards on a 31 ft boat, bloody daft.

How strange, we launched our tender today after 6 months lay up and it started on the third key turn, Yamaha 20 4 stroke.
Very impressed and versus the two previous Mercury outboards that we've had, a revalation!

Even bette that Ann bet me a fiver it would start at all :)
Will get it serviced regardless.....

Agreed - I bought a 9.9 2 Stroke a few years back, had sat on the back of a fishing boat for an AUX engine, never started in 9 years.

Started 3rd time after sitting all that time.

Promptly destroyed the original impeller a few hours later....
