I lost the bow nav light in the tail-end of a storm in the Baltic - sept 2024 .... replaced it with an Osculati as the original quick release light was no longer available.

I went to the boat yesterday and found the new light lense smashed where the boat had in strong winds touched the 'wall'.

The fender that had been rigged on the bow had been pushed out of line ...

Its crazy - I have stern buoy line winched in hard ... I have bow lines good as well ... but wind was enough to close that gap to shore decking !

Now I have to sort again ....

Usually I Baltic moor to the lower decking that is deck height - fender then protects the stemhead .. light / pulpit etc is above the decking. But that area was full when I returned last trip - so tied to the higher shore decking that sits just about level with the step though plate of my pulpit ... excellent for getting on / off ... but now obviously not so good for the light under that step !

New light ordered ...

Will be moving boat possibly today to the lower decking section if a place is free.

Bow navigation lights are ablative sacrifices to Poseidon, lest He prang something more structural. 🧿

If this one gets broken .. then I will fit two separate lights - mounted each side of the pulpit step .... there's enough space for a foot to go between and it will mean the lights well protected. They would be ther smaller 60mm rather than the 100mm dual that was fitted.
