I bought a Konsort! Any help around Gosport? A follow up from "cruising boat under 20k?"

I checked with a management person. The organisation is CASC. This a Community Amateur Sports Assn. It is a nationwide setup. It enables us access to various grants, reduced rates etc etc. But we have to offer training etc, so we have a building dedicated to the cadet class.
However, we have to be all embracing to membership. as a result we have had to stop interviews. Some think this is a bad move & we should be having a meet & greet meeting instead so prospective members get to know who the committee are & how things work. But we cannot refuse membership if someone does not turn up but fills in the application & pays the subs on time.
When I joined our club I had to lie about my age ( I said I was 17 when I was actually 16) & prove the I had my own transport to get to the club (Moped). It was the clickiest place ever. I had a brand new dinghy of one of the recognised classes at the time. (hornet). Without it I doubt I would have been allowed in. One of the people interviewing me 60 years ago, is still a member & I remind him that he is to blame for me being there at regular intervals.

That criteria is in order for your club to be a member of CASC.

If the club chooses not to be a member of CASC there’s nothing in law to stop a club interviewing prospective members so long as they don’t discriminate on grounds of race, ethnicity religion etc.

Fair comment. But it would be interesting to know how nany dinghy sailing clubs, as a % of the total do subscribe. They would be losing out on many benefits by not being part . Rates, grants etc. for starters. These days that makes a big difference to a club's income. Plus, to some extent, standing in the community

Firstly thank you all for all your advice, I realized I was worrying too much about the wrong things and found a great condition Konsort. Very happy!

I have insured her, motored her to a new mooring and spent the last two days getting used to how everything works.

Was wondering if there is anybody in the Portsmouth/Gosport area that wouldn't mind helping take me out the first few times? I have a good understanding of how everything works from reading and watching. In more than happy to compensate for anybody's time and fuel ect
The Konsort is a great starting vessel and will always see you home. It sails rigid and true without vices. Go out in her and gradually stretch her to share confidence in her ability. She will be your best teacher.
