Local stainless repairs.

If this has involved welding do keep a very close eye on this from now on and if possible double up the reinforcement.

All the best, and good luck.

Re: And now the good news

Here's some bitznpieces that Don Street says above the CV's

They are 2020 miles from Barbados, which makes them closer by some 500 miles than any other logical jumping-off place on the East side of the Atlantic.

Many yachtsmen who have visited there recently, myself included, are coming to feel that the CVs are worth going to and worth writing about. They are certainly isolated but that' aplus point formany cruising folk who want to get away from tourism and fellow yachtsmen. And the CVs offer some very attractive cruising possibilites with good beaches, diving, scenery and interesting culture.

The CVs lie between north latitudes 15degs and 17 degs, like the middle islands of the eastern Caribbean, and the climate is similar, dry season December to June, wet season Jume to early November. The wet season produces sudden heavy rains and flash floods... ...which can muddy the normally crystal clear waters for many weeks afterwards.

So it sounds like you've picked the wrong time to go calling, and best not to hang around.

New course to steer, 244 degs, distance to Belem 1790.

Durban bears 143 degs, dist 4293, but there's a chunk of land called Africa in the way
