What am I allowed to post about? Having read this forum for a while I am aware that some subjects are banned. Could you let me know what?

Sex with poodles is a definate no no

Try anything about George W, Fray Bentos, Col regs, Hunting, Smoking, or anything in a Scottish accent- they usualy go down well. Also put in an ad for any company you're involved in and you're away.

More seriously- welcome to the forum. Post anything you like really and see what happens. Scuttle Butt is a bit more esoteric then PBO and threads wander off in strange directions at times.

Just enjoy it.

Also if you have any good jokes , let us hear them

There's often a 'Friday funny' thread and you can moan about motor boaters too if you like.

A post on following subjects will make you a lot of instant friends here:

Colregs - Isle of Wight ferry
Europe - especially in relation to ensigns
Modern fin keelers vs oldfashioned longkeeled real boats
OFCOM
Red diesel tax

Welcome all the same

Terms & Conditions.

At the risk of being accused of responding seriously to what looks suspiciously like a troll, can I suggest you look at section 2.3 and 3.3 of the Forum Rules via the button in the bottom right corner of this page. These spell out exactly what is prohibited. Mostly common-sense, really.

'Scuttlebutt' is chatty, with some slight preference for being yachting related, 'Reader to Reader' for technical advice (mostly - but not always - sound: no money-back guarantee!). Adverts should be kept strictly to the 'For Sale' section, and queries about using the forums to 'Website News and Feedback'.

The forum administrator recommended THIS GEM OF ADVICE on how to be a newbie poster.

If you have been looking at the forum for a while, you will know that some advice is good some is not, so please take some of what has been posted before me with a very Large pinch of SALT.

Welcome /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: AndrewB.

Andrew has put his finger on it: "The rules spell out what is prohibited -mostly common sense." You said it !

Hallo and an heartfelt welcome !

Having just read your interests in your profile, I'm surprized you haven't been banned, or a least may about to be so !

Two tips though; if you start a non-boaty thread, put "N.B." in the subject line and if you're tempted to respond to a contentious thread late at night when you've just finished a jolly good dinner or come back from the pub - leave it 'till the morning - it really does save a lot of embarassing appologising and humble pie to be eaten !!

Have fun,

Re: Armchairs only

We like to debate theoretical, contentious and abstract issues. For example you may ask what size of engine to fit in your boat and whether this might precipitate melting of the Greenland icecap but we don't want to hear any smutty details about the colour of your exhaust.

1. You must never say anything remotely sensible. Especially on Fridays.
2. Occasional lapses into the venacular are permitted but donnae tak the piss outa anythin remotely connected wi Scotland apart from Jimi. He's fair game. Specially on Fridays.
3. Wind up anyone and everyone whenever possible. Especially if they are trying to be serious.
4. If at first your posts don't get any replies you are probably being too polite.
5. Don't mention Fray Bentos pies.
6. Have fun.
Apart from that anything goes as long as you always, always agree with me.
