Hydrogen Peroxide?

Folks who make explosives, or anything that's a bit lively like Chlorate/Diesel, must have no imagination. When I'm handling detonators it puts the willies up me, I count my fingers when I'm done just to be sure.

It turns out that drying Picric acid isn't dodgy as I feared but sticking a detonator in 10g of the stuff concentrates the mind, it's not jut the det you have to be leary of, it's the det and the picric that's going to get you.

I was once responsible for ordering explosives for a seismic crew, and because of a foul-up with an order, had to drive from Midsomer Norton to Wareham with a box of detonators in the boot. That was the worst drive I ever did, especially in an old Cortina with the road-holding of a pig on ice!

My father used to manage a couple of small private coal mines in South Wales. It was normal to pick up a a bunch of 20 or so loose detonators at the nearby ironmonger. One day I was driving for practice (had only just passed my test). My father got back in the car and thrust the bunch of unwrapped detonators onto the parcel shelf under the dash of the ancient Viva ...... where of course numerous bare 12v connections lurk!. I told him to stay still and very carefully got out of the car; opened the bonnet; and disconnected the battery........before transferring the detonators to the safety of the rear seat.

(In comparison, the boxes of explosive cartridges were relatively safe, and were always stored right next to the pot-belly coal stove in the miners hut to keep them nice and dry. Oh! ...and a 3v cycle-lamp battery was the favored way of firing the detonators, rather than the proper twist-handle magneto device).

A few years ago I had to blow up a few things with black powder for a TV programme. We were filming overseas, so a local explosives expert had to be hired to supervise me. We were introduced and shook hands ... his right hand was missing two fingers. "Oh yes", said the expert, looking down, "I blew them off in an accident a couple of months ago".

My explosions went fine, nobody lost any body parts ... and the footage wasn't used. Huh.

Good job C.I.Barnaby didn't catch you.

Anyone have a source of Hydrogen Peroxide?

Need a litre or two of at least 60 Vol (18%) preferably much higher.

Last time I bought any Hydrogen Peroxide it was 500ml of food grade 35% from a local laboratory supplies. If you want PM me and I can have a run down there see if they have anything more suitable for your purposes.
