Hi everyone.

Over the last few months, my gearbox has become harder to go from ahead to neutral or from astern to neutral. Sometimes it’d go from one gear straight through neutral into the other gear, missing the moments pause before I would usually select the other gear. Or sometimes I’d think she was on neutral and she’d still be in gear.

I initially assumed it was the new gearbox cable requiring adjustment, However that seemed ok.

Once I removed the cable from the gearbox, with the engine running I could select forward and astern, but getting it back into neutral was hard.
With the engine shut down, the gear lever operates as she should.

If someone knows if any adjustments I could make, or things to check, I’d be extremely grateful.

Many thanks,,
Pedro.

About 18-24 months ago, i stupidly let a cowboy overhaul my engine and gearbox. Fortunately he didn’t do anything except paint everything and put gearbox oil in the box instead of the ATF. Once I noticed, I quickly flushed it out with copious amounts of ATF.

Can anyone please shed any light on why she’s not disengaging easily?
