I have been told my Hurth Gearbox should be filled with A.T.F.oil which I presume is "automatic transmission fluid" oil.

Are all ATF oils the same or should I be looking for something more particular?

Will the stuff from Halfords do?

Thanks

My Hurth box took ATF type A. Most ATF's meet the requirements of type A, just check the small print on the bottle.

... ... except it doesn't mention type A on my 1 litre container of Castrol TQF DIII. I had the same problem and found (Google!) that this is a modern equivalent to type A. ps don't use type F it will ruin the clutches!

... and if you ruin the clutch plate, and its an MD22 or Perkins Prima its attached to, you're in for a very very unpleasant surprise at the cost for a replacement!!!!
