Any view on Hurley 800? The boat I am considering was built in 1982.

Thanks a lot for sharing you view, regards
Poz.

Bought a bare hull around 1998 in Holland. Did all the fitting out, nternal woodwork, electrics etc myself, took about two years to complete. Enjoyed the fitting out more than the sailing. I sail on the Ijsselmeer, found the Hurley did not cope well with the short chop, sold it a year later.

I believe that the Hurley 800 was a recycled Contest design. Nothing to do with Hurley Marine of Plymouth who closed in 1975. I think that a Dutch company bought the Hurley brand name when they went bust. Hurley 22 was known as the Hurley 700 in Holland. I think that the Hurley 800 was designed by Dick Zaal, Not Ian Anderson.
800 implies 8m. Hurley made a 24' and two 27' yachts but not a 8m 26' yacht.

A quick google shows several Hurley 830's for sale, which seems to be an upgraded 800 - it looks very nicely made with traditional lines.

The Hurley 800 and 830 were built in Holland by Yachthaven De Eemhof

The Hurley 800 started out as the Contest 28 which was introduced in 1981. The Contest 28 was a development of the older Contest 27 which was introduced in 1969.
The Contest 28 was built in Holland by Conyplex NV and designed by Dick Zaal.
Contest sold the old Contest 28 moulds to Jachthaven Eemhof. Plus a larger 34' Contest that was re-named the Hurley 1050 I think.
The Hurley 800 was developed into the 830 by adding a sugar scoop stern. Just like many Moody yachts of the eighties.

Jachthaven Eemhof were the Dutch agents for Hurley yachts and they sold the Hurley 22 in Holland as the Hurley 700.
They bought the name Hurley from the recievers when Hurley Marine Ltd closed in 1975.
The Dutch Hurley 800 and 830 are nothing to do with the UK Plymouth built Hurley Marine Ltd boats such as the Hurley 22. They were designed by Ian Anderson.

I don't think that many Dutch built Hurleys sere sold in the UK
