Hurley 24/70 Any Views

We had a bilge keel version a while ago. Strongly built large keels gave her a steady motion at sea .Pointed quite high with a light helm going to windward. Bit heavy to steer downwind.

Like a lot of boats from that era they had a small mainsail and large genoa so quite hard work tacking short handed.

Fairly roomy below with good headroom (ABOUT 5 FT 10 i think) ours had 4 berths ,I think some had 5.Quite a variation on build quality as some were home completed.

Ours had a Yanmar 15 diesel which never needed full throttle,A ten would have done.

Despite the bilge keels they are still about 4 ft draught if I remember correctly. The fin keel version would be faster and not much extra draught.

A strong capable cruising boat that sails well and is fairly roomy inside. get a survey done before you buy.You will need it later for insurance purposes anyway.

Good Luck Graham

Cheers Graham,
Has to be bilge keel unfortunatly for mooring purposes, unless I move upto Lawrenny, After raeding peoples veiws not sure if I,m going to gain a great deal more from the Warwick, seems silly to buy Twice. Like the headroom though not much beam decisions decisions /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
