Well that's spiffing then; 'enjoyment' & 'fun' seem to be sadly lacking in this world at the moment, I seem to remember a small dinghy was fun, before it seemed mandatory to have radar & GPS etc !

I wish the OP plenty of 'Swallows & Amazons' - or even circumnavigation - type, ( Margaret R wasn't it ? ) fun.

Crossed the channel in a Hurley 22 bilge keeler in c. 1979, one of three crew plus her skipper, and caught in a Force 9 southerly gale. We got to Cherbourg safely, and came back two days later to Poole in no time at all.
