lol many do know that Brexit is a mistake I guess. How it will be five years after they leave no one knows.
But the bureaucratic hurdle to leave is a big economic test even for the strongest economy.
It is like doing crash tests with real people (without a dummy), metaphorical speaking.

From a car industry point of view I think many feel they should be same level if not for the mess they had in the sixties and seventies with the unions and so on.

Don't confuse envy with resent, for example; 'British subjects were not envious of bunga bunga politics, rather they resented being part of a socio-economic environment that allowed for it'

Oooh... Wazzat, an attempt to steer my o/t comment, which was clearly a joke, into a serious debate on the possibly most ridiculous chapter of UK politic history? :D :D :D
No problem anyway, I'll bite.

Fact is, the world famous Berlusconi's bunga bunga had absolutely nothing to see with politics, if you think about it.
That had to see with the lifestyle of the man - and indeed THIS is what attracted a lot of attention.
Mind, I'm not saying that as a politician he was fine. Of course he was a crook.
But let he who never elected crook politicians to run their Countries throw the first stone, if you see what I mean... :rolleyes:

Already back in those days, I always had the distinct impression that most of the comments about bunga bunga, not only in IT but also anywhere else, were driven by a mixture of morbid curiosity and prude attitude, more than anything else - and understandably so, because that obviously sells more newspapers than any proper politic debate.
A quick google search was sufficient to find a couple of examples:
This one from the Daily Mail is rather self-explanatory, but I guess you could argue that it should be expected, considering the source.
Otoh, you can also check out this one from the BBC, which pretends to make an historic analysis of the terminology, but obviously counts - yet again - on morbid curiosity and prude attitude to attract readers, first and foremost.

Bottom line, resent? Naah.
Like it or not, deep down at heart, most folks who fingerpointed at bunga bunga were much more driven by envy of that lifestyle than resent of the politician (or, heaven forbid, of the socio-economic environment behind him - something most folks couldn't care less about).
Also here in IT, of course. But neither the writers nor the readers of the above articles were different, in this respect.

Otoh, if you are one of the few dozens of people in the world (see? I'm not ruling out this possibility - in fact, I very much sympathize with this restricted elite, to which I sort of aspired to belong when I was younger, before succumbing to cynism!) who sincerely resent living in a socio-economic environment that allows for immoral politics, well, I have bad news for you: Brexit won't change that. Not one iota.
Interstellar travels to other planets are more likely to be a solution, I'm afraid.

PS: just curious, who is meant to represent the UK in The Graduate ending, Dustin Hoffman or Katharine Ross? Or the old lady who plays the organ? :D

KR would be the UK, DH 'democracy' and that would be you, PYB, me and countless others on the bus.

It'll be interesting to watch events unfold in Fr and IT in the coming weeks/months, strange days but my point remains, (I just think you missed it), that Brits aren't envious of Germans, French, Spanish, Turks or North African refugees for that matter; envy is the wrong word, if envy had critical mass then we would not be in this mess.

Very sad :(. I almost struck a deal on a 36 a few years ago. If you haven't seen the film Sahara then I suggest you do.
 
Hunton have now filed. Liquidator has been appointed and the winding up of the companies (parent co and the operating subsidiary) is underway. It appears to be orderly: the company appears only slightly underwater financially and the sums lost by employees and suppliers appear somewhat small. The original investors seem to have lost all their investment from when they bought the company.
 
Ever since I read years ago that Colin Chapman's (Lotus) Boat building company (Moonraker) went into liquidation went I have been aware of how little protection creditors have. I seem to remember reading that one person who had made stage payments for a boat which was virtually finished was told that he was just a "creditor". His response was to go during the night, cut the lock off the gate and load it onto transport and remove it. Good for him.
