Well, just back and she's bought. We had quite a nice sail today, then we lifted her out nad inspected the keel, rudder and underside in general. Not much was found that would have put me off. It comes with genoa, jib, main and 2 spinnakers (Sails are actually quite good). Also got a new roller reefing kit too. Here's a couple of pics:

At her mooring (this was taken from my Leisure 17 at it's mooring):

Lifted out for inspection and a powerwash:

She looks very neat and tidy - well done and happy sailing (I don't think you will be disapointed).

I noticed some slight delaminating of the plywood at the top of the bulkhead, does this support the mast or is it just cosmetic?

cheers.

This is something to look at. The chain plates can leak and cause rot in the ply. It may well be the bit holding up your mast.

Great little boats. It is small enough to handle easily in a marina (if space gets tight you can always swivle the engine). If you find after a year or two that you want something bigger or heavier then selling will not be a problem.

If you intend to do much cooking on board you may find that you suffer from back ache!

You will definately notice the difference as you add crew members to the stability in windy weather. Single handed they can be a bit tender.

Well worth loooking at the Duet as somebody alse has said.

I gave it a good poking around the chainplates, all completely solid, It looks like possibly it leaked before a bit around the base of the mast but is dry now. There is a section of timber from the base of the mast down to the hull so it is weight bearing, the ply is cosmetic really and tbh, is very minor.

I don't intend to do much cooking onboard, that what I got married for:D:D . Anyways, theres always the BBQ:).

Too late to think about the duette now as I bought this yesterday:D, it was too handy. It was the top end of my buget but I think it is well worth what I paid:cool:. I just couldn't have walked away from it.

good buy

There is one that lives on a mooring up the Kyles of Bute that is sailed by a retired couple. It has roller reefing and a spray hood and looks like a nice little cruising boat.

I looked at a few with my neighbour who now has a Foxterrier 24 and they were all priced at more you paid even without trailers

My mate used to share one with his dad out of Helensburgh. He would race it hard and then his parents would go cruising for a few days in it.

No 22' boat has standing headroom and a full galley. With a trailer included you can get it home for the winter. Saving grace is being able to do it all at home esp if you have young kids

It looks really tidy and I'd say you got a pretty good deal. I don't think you'll struggle to get your money back anyway.

Let us know how you get on with her
