I am getting sea water coming in the forward drain hole below the cabin sole. Only on the starboard side. If the boat is heeled to starboard a lot of water comes in and fills the cabin bilge. I have no idea where the water is coming from. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in anticipation

It must be coming from one of three places...
Sea (hull opening), Deck (sea spray or rain water) or internal (fresh water?)

Recently I had a lot of water in the bilge - worked out that it was fresh water and looked at the FW system and found my water tank had a leak.

If you taste the water and determine whether it is salt or fresh you should be able to narrow down the options

Hope this helps

colm,
on my hunter 272 the freshwater tank overflow drains into the forward bilge, is it possibly that.
which forward drain hole do you mean is it aft of your fresh water tank.
find out if it is fresh or sea water like homa said by tasting but remember there will be a taste of salt anyway from the salt that has collected in the bilges over the years but it will not be as salty as the sea.
the windows also always leak in these boats

Same here, the overflow / air outlet of the water tank drains below V berth on my 273. The flexible hose is clipped above level of water tank. Is it worth checking that if your 27 has the same configuration the hose has not come loose?
