In case people dont know, the ships channel has changed on the Humber, upstream of the Bridge. The channel is now buoyed on the north side of the river and does not go near Reads Island. Not good if you want to go to South Ferriby.

Do many sail on the Humber ?

[/ QUOTE ] Im sure those that do will find that information usefull.

I have sailed on Humber in 1995 / 1996 .I did a comp crew course which was instructed by David king with Ellen Macathur as his helper .She was good even at 18 and put us chaps to shame . I returned to Humber a year later to do day skipper theory for five days -instructed by -yep she was excellent at that too .I have her autograph on my day slipper certificate .Those days on Humber were my first go at sailing a yacht and it got me good and proper .Ellen has moved on a little of course !!!!!!!

I could never understand what people have against her , with all that she's achieved she seems to get slated by some but I suppose that's the British way these days

Yes, I sail on the Humber and have done for more years than I care to remember.
I am also a member of the Humber Yawl Club which has premises at Brough on the North bank and Winteringham on the South bank. Sailing from both of these places is restricted to a couple of hours over high water and then only on springs. I would be happy to take any Forumee that fancys a sail on the Humber or who might be interested in joining the club. PM me if interested.

Ted

She does get bad some bad press .As I only knew her for 10 days its difficult to comment but she was so focussed and enthusiastic for sailing all those around were commenting on what she might achive -little thinking she would become so famous. After navigation course we all chipped in a tenner towards her mooring fee for "Idduna" I think it was called as she was skint .Thats was the boat she circumnavigated UK in .
