Humber 448

I have just joined the Forum! I need some advise and help. We look after a Humber 448 which was built in 1995 and was built for Fred Bookers own use and was a Prototype. I am in desperate need to find out who used to supply all the stern gear for the Humber boats. Unfortunately Fred and his son Peter passed away 3 years ago and I know they would have had the answers for everything! I await anyone's comments. Regards. Adrienne Hall Quaysport Menorca

I don't know who provided the original stern gear, however I have just replaced both props and [straightened] shafts on my humber 448 and can provide you with the suppliers details if you want. My email is michael.fesler@yahoo.com

Hello everyone, I've joined this forum and thread as my Father owns one of the 4 Humber 448's which is Dream Girl. He is the second owner of the boat and has owned her for 10 years; he is now at this stage of his life looking to sell her. She has been extremely well looked after and retains her original features. She is still indeed sumptuous.

Before he widely advertises does anyone here know of anyone who may interested in purchasing her. Further information can be provided on request, serious enquiries only please.

It is not yet advertised, all the spec you can still Google from when my Father purchased it, just type Dream Girl Humber 448 & it comes up, the photo's have gone so I can provide new ones personally. My intention is to open a dialogue with serious interested parties & can be contacted on Tristan.maskens@unipart.com.

Hi Michael,
nice to stumble on this thread, we have been in touch but for the record here is my Humber 45, a modified 448 and the last built by Fred Booker for himself. Its listed as a prototype but is as your boat but with a few extras like a full arch and rear canopies, redesigned rear cockpit seating etc. It subsequently became the Pearl 45, before they designed their own range. The quality is outstanding and yes it can be considered looking dated now with all that wood, but Booker was a joiner after all. She made 24knots at 2200 rpm all the way from Portugal to Menorca in 4.5 days albeit with wind and waves in our favour, so comfortably a top 20s boat and the hull is as good as anything and rumoured to be a tweaked Nelson, feels like a 50 footer and very capable in the chop.
I'll be in touch about the cockpit bimini structure soon.
Hi do you still have this boat? as I have seen it up for sale in spain and was after some more information on it

you were wrong - with freshly coppercoated bottom, quickly got to 30 knots

Hi I am new on this web site and trying to get use to it. I am looking at the boat you mention in this thread “free wheelin”. I believe I t’s for sale . I was wondering if you still had contact with the owner? I would like to know more about the boat. Kindest regards

Hi all

New to the forum but have been a long term lurker..

I recently saw a Humber 448 and am intrigued. Although looking a little dated these days they are a hell of a lot of boat and the internal craftsmanship is from a different era.

Is anyone on here running one? I would like to ask a few questions.

Thanks

PS - Sorry to resurrect such an old thread..

Hi Jim

A customer of mine is currently getting works done with the view to selling her in the spring, maybe this is the one you have seen.

I maybe able to answer some questions for you.

Best
