I noticed this up the Fishbourne Channel, Chi Harbour. A little north of Dell Quay SC.

Anyone know about it?

Was being renovated some 20 years ago - think by some sea cadets or similar. All work then stopped - shame.

Thanks for that.

It does look similar to at least on JD Foster design, so possibly a local boat. Or maybe all boats looked like that then.

When I saw it yesterday it looked like it was being restored with much new planking. A closer look tonight indicates that's not the case at all, it's well into decline.

I'd still like to know about it.

Along time ago in 1973 I met the owners of the boat,at that time it was in Coombes boatyard, there where great plans for voyaging.I have not been in contact with them since 1990.Looks like little has been done since I was aboard in the late 80....

Thanks, do you know anything about it? Name? Was it a Local Oyster Fishing boat? Coombes Bembridge? So it was sailable around 73?

according to Roddy who runs the yard next to it Wyche Marine, it was built just before the war as an MFV, taken over by the Admiralty and used as a munitions barge. Came to DQ for fitting out X years ago, and has stayed ever since. X is at least 30 yrs ago, as i have berthed at Wyche for over 20 and she was growing roots then! HM wanted to demoolish it some years ago, but artists and photographers objected! Ask Roddy he knows a lot about it.

Thanks to those who have posted information on this old thing. I've often wondered what the story was and, in fact, when I was walking the dog at Dell Quay a few weeks ago, I made a mental note to ask on here but forgot all about it. It's great that Mark-1 had the same thought but has a better memory!
