In all his reports back Thompson always referred to MG as 'Golding' whereas Mike always referred to 'Alex'. Once in the poo AT started referring to 'Mike' all of a sudden. Amazing how attitudes change. MG....diamond bloke up alongside Pete Goss, never thought we wold get another of the same class. We should consider ourselves blessed.
Does anyone else find it strange that masts are stayed (forget Freedom just now), long bowsprits are stayed, but keels are just held together by cantilevering forces generally. Funnily enough, the hydraulic jacks for canting provide some amount of staying. On ocean racers, where debris is far less (?) could we end up seeing the keels stayed underwater?
