I have been approached by a highly placed executive in the TV industry to see whether there would be any interest in reruns of Howard's Way.

What is the panels view.

I haven't voted because I would be fascinated to see a couple of episodes to find out whether it was as absolutely awful as I remember it being. My abiding memory is of some appaling acting, staged sailing shots and story lines which got further and further away from boats. On the other hand, some nice shots of Bursledon and it was, however tangentionally, vaguely boat related.

So I'd probably watch a couple then delete the series link.

It started off good, then got very silly indeed.so its a big no from me. plus the leading lady, Jan, someone or other reminds me of my ex wife. eeeuk

I admit to having seen an episode in the last couple of years. The passage of time has not been kind to the programme; it is now utterly cringe-worthy whereas my recollection from the early eighties was of a rather watchable series. These days I can thing of >1,000 other things which I would rather do - but probably not including sticking pins in my eyes!

I think it would have been better shown immediately prior to 2008! The profliglancy then was similar to the idiotic boom taking place whilst the original series was shot! Probably why Solent Marina Fees are so speculative.

Lived in Swanwick at the time of the filming of these and was great fun for us to watch the finished series. Terrible acting as others have said. Jack Rolfe lived up to his character and virtually resided in The Jolly Sailor!

I once did some filming with Annabel Croft on a Vancouver 36 in Chi harbour 20 years ago. I was lying on the cockpit sole steering whilst she talking to the camera pretended to steer ... heard that's what Bob Fisher did on Barracuda of Tarrant as they didn't have a clue!!

What do you mean by 'rerun'? Just repeats or a new series?

There's plenty of equally bad things that get re-run! I would watch some - not sure if I could make it through the lot!

I would like one of their gimballed cabins. All leaning over up top and nice and level down below.

Wasn't there some French boat that did that? The galley and chart table, at least. A ring-frame around the inside of the hull, and a module which slid around it with a weighted bottom.

Just tried to google it without success, but I'm sure pictures were posted on these forums.

Certainly was - can't remember what it was called, but it was being reviewed as a new model only two or three years ago.
