goodness

I clearly know zip-all about Centaur prices

alhough as I will have one to sell in 2015 then I very pleased to see that the market is firm

I was mithering about whether to bring Harmony south to sell her in the solent or sell her on the West Coast of scotland

guess it does not make much difference

best thing to do is to strip out all the good bits, shove her up on a sea wall, fill her with water and wait for the keenos to come and get her

of course Harmony might leak like a sieve when she is launched on March 17

Tempted to do a "where is it?" on the mystery harbour shown in your picture.View attachment 40425
Knowing how rotten the internal plywood bearers were in mine (and it hasn't been in the water for six years), its a brave man that purchases that boat.

I was down at Dinorwic yesterday picking up the trailer that I had bought off their eBay auction. I'm pleased with my purchase (we had to buy 2 new tyres to bring it home). I didn't see the Centaur but the other boats were all there with two old boys starting work on 'Star Queen' - goodness knows what they're going to use her for!
The Leisure 17 looked a very good buy at £350 but we didn't have much time to view in detail. The Albin was quite good too but you never know how much work will be needed before it can be sailed away and storage costs will be incurred in the mean time. Hope the buyer of the Centaur had a good look before bidding as it wasn't all that cheap. I don't know how much defaulting on payment occurs on eBay - I've never experienced it.
What a nice little marina at Dinorwic and all the facilities available (except a coffee machine)
Getting down to work on the trailer now with the wire brush and paint might need to have a bit of welding done for new supports under my bilge keels. What paint system is recommended? I've got a can of Aldi brand Hammerite somewhere!

I am glad someone has taken ownership of that scrap iron in front of my boat!

Marina is now nearly fully booked without rafting up alongside. We are possibly going to get the facilities you missed. I am not holding my breath though. You would be surprised how many forumites are based in the dock! There is usually one offering a cuppa or something stronger......

I hope the winning bidders well but IMHO some have way overpaid for what was truly scrap. The Octeau by the gate had some serious damage to the hull. I hope someone gets it properly checked before trying to use her.

Rusty trailer

Big wire brush in a grinder is your best friend.

I would then just red oxide that seemed to be the best treatment I found for an old rusty dinghy trailer. It is easier to grind back and touch up than Hammerite.

Supachick looked very nice from where we were standing and those sort of mobos are very popular but not for me. Mobos are hard to sell at the moment according to some brokers I've spoken to.

I see that the buyer of Martett has given dinorwic negative feedback. They did say inspection recommended.

I cant believe anybody could bid £1500 without viewing and checking for themselves. The marina was as honest and detailed as they could be and gave plenty of warning and invitation to inspect.
The winning bidder obviously didnt like what he found after turning up to have a look at what he had bought. He and others are always going to be disappointed if they bought on the basis of a few photographs of the outside!

can you post a link to the completed sale for the yacht - just curious
