How wrong can we be?

I've certainly seen worse! Dry her out, sand and varnish! Unless the bulkheads have rotted through that is.....

I agree. The traditional Scandinavian distaste for wood on the outside is a boon here, and if the water had ever got higher than the bunk tops the lifejackets would have gone off.

Out of interest, how does the marina go about getting 'legal ownership'?

From their T&C's perhaps? Not sure how that works after the marina has been through several owners. Anyway, just curious.

They used the Torts (interference with goos) ACT 1977
See the notices pinned on the boats a couple of months ago.
Doesnt matter how many marina owners as the debt would be transferred from one to the next each time its sold.

So basically they give the owner the opportunity to pay up(proabably most of them had passed away) by posting a notice and on it for a couple of months stating that thay are going to sell it to recover the outstanding debt.(or a small proportion of it in most cases!) I doubt any of the original owners or their inheritors are going to turn up in a couple of months and kick off when there boat has moved on!
If they do whats the worst that could happen presumably the Marina can give them a bill for the balance of the remaining outstanding fees?

Thanks for that, TSB.

Looks like the marina have done some homework! Good luck to them in building a thriving business.

I share others' opinion of ebay having recently sold an old car to someone who didn't view it - he just sent a trailer to pick it up.
