Hi all

Can anyone recommend a simple option for monitoring shore power over the winter?

I have wifi at the marina.

Ta John

Have a mains powered wifi security camera, they are about £20.00 on Amazon, if the camera is showing images your mains power is on!
Or lost it's signal or router offline.

A power socket with a sim card would be better which will text you when the power fails or buy a cheap car tracker which also has main power monitoring (<£40).

Thanks Scudoadoo, I just found this that does temp too:
Envirotext

I’ve just ordered one. It is just a pay as you go SiM that is needed?

Hi forum friends. I just set up the EnviroTxt alert plug with sim. It will tell me if temperature goes outside a range you select, and when shorepower goes on and off (both by text).

So if you have, or get, shore power, a mobile signal, then it seems like a great little gadget. Even tells you the mobile signal strength and has an alert for that. NB you need to also get a pay as you go SIM card. I got mine from giff gaff.

So far, and I’ve only just fitted it, v impressed.

I’m not selling these! Just always asking you guys for advice so giving something back :-)

I have been using that device for a while.
There is a small problem.
The device is fitted with a small battery that will send a test message as the power is lost.
That battery deteriorates over time so you loose the "power off" message and have to wait until it powers up again.
Other than that it works well.

thanks H, is it a rechargeable battery that degrades over time? And if yes, how long did it give ok usage for? I think the temperature alert is the key thing so probably still useful as you say.

Berth at Haslar marina.

You can access the shore power via internet. Get alerts when it trips, turn on or off, monitor your money balance and add a top up.

A very good system.

Just to add it`s the Berthmaster scheme.

What a great system. No such tech at my MDL marina.
