We had a Redstart and used 7 foot oars instead of the standard ones, It rowed MUCH better. We were in Barbados, which in those days was a quite lively beach surf landing. We quickly gave up on trying to use the old seagull outboard (wind the cord around the top type) as it could not be started immediately on Launching, by the time the motor was primed, armed and ready to go the dinghy was either sideways or back on the beach so we resorted to rowing with the longer oars, much easier and we could carry the dinghy up above the surf lineon landing with no problem
