How to get to my bulb!!

So, 37 year old Seamaster 23S with the original interior lights.
These are circular roof mounted, where one has to turn the lens part to turn on.

I was going to take a peak at the bulbs and replace them with LED bulbs, but I can't work out how to get to the bulb. I don't want to force anything.

Can anyone tell me?

I would imagine that you turn the brass rim which will unlock it from a base plate.

push the lens up & turn anti clockwise

I'll try that again - it's old and I didn't want to make a "snap" decision and force anything - but if that is the way, then I will exert a little more effort.

From memory you do have to push in quite hard and then turn but I honestly cannot remember if it's CW or ACW.......
